Current Weight- 148lbs
I was 25 years old when I started, Married, i have 3 step kids, 2 of my own kids all 12 and under. I weighed 253 pounds and just wasn’t happy with myself! I didn’t feel deserving of my husband even though he told me how beautiful I was and how much he loved me everyday, I was still embarrassed that I had let myself get that bad. I had taken on the roll of caring for my mom, she Suffers from depression and had fallen into a deep depression that lasted for 2 1/2 years and she had also got diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, my grandmother also has diabetes and I was determined to not be the next!
I changed my eating habits and counted calories daily and wrote them down in a notebook so I knew exactly what I was eating! As far as exercise, I started off by doing a cardio DVD 5 times a week and then my husband and I bought some used weights and a treadmill off some friends, so I started doing 1 mile a night along with my DVD. 1 day I was watching a weight loss show on tv and I heard them talking about running 5ks, so I set a goal for myself to run a 5k, so each week I would up my speed and distance on the treadmill till I got to the point that I could jog the whole time without stopping and then I moved to running outside! The 1st race I ever did was the race for the cure in June 2011 and that is what began my love of running!
Now I am 27 yrs old 148 pounds and am training for my 2nd half marathon! I try and run 5-6 times a week and I listen to my body and take time off as needed. I know that I will always have a battle ahead of me but I choose to accept that challenge because going out running for a hour a day is way easier then being obese!
