Barbell on Body Contact – Leg Day
Havn’t posted any workout pics in a minute as we had a slew of great transformations to share with you all, we hope you all were inspired by those as we are. Also last week was our deload/lightweight week so we didnt want to bore you all with the light stuff
But we are back with addition of Barbell on Body contact which is Leg Day. No machines were used in the making of this workout
We didnt “feel the burn”! via leg extensions or whatever machines that most gyms out there have, we just loaded up the barbell and did the damn thing with it. There is something primal about just lifting heavy stuff without the aid of the machine. For example there will be no smith machine to help me pick up our child if she is injured or no machine to help us lift furniture going upstairs, its just you against gravity without help. Matter of fact, maybe as a challenge to yourself this week in your gym travels, try to complete a workout WITHOUT a machine & let us know your experience, was it harder? did u have to think of exercises to do without going to your favorite machine? Let us know your experience.
We just started our 1st week of cycle 4 of the 5/3/1 program and as stated previously, we love this program. We are making good gains with it as our core lifts have gone up. Now that we are entering our “lean out” “Aruba Prep” stage for the next 9 weeks, we wont be trying to set new rep records on the last sets as we had done previously as we don’t want to hamper our recovery between workouts on less calories and carbs. But we will be still hitting those reps + 1 extra for good measure.
Be Blessed!

Love Your Pictures! No matter where I find them. I have been adding in way more barbell and dumbell exercises in the last few months… “Get Off The Smith” I believe you said. Still not getting as deep as you are here on my own, but it will come… Today’s a Squat Day!
We were hoping u don’t get burned out seeing the pics everywhere since we follow each other across social media lol. We figured since we see alot of diet challenges and such, why not a friendly gym challenge of creating a machine free workout
I don’t get burned out… I enjoy it! You remind me to lift heavy and to “stay away from the smith”.
I’m struggling to figure out how to follow a strength routine as most seem to require 48 hours between sessions, whether it’s 5×5 or 5/3/1. I’d love some predictable weeks ahead where every M,T & W are free so I can plan a cycle like you guys follow. Will have to come up with a hybrid routine I guess, one which allows me to plan some progressive overload but also gives me flexibility. Nice technique by the way
Hey friend, try this 5/3/1 style
Thursday – squats w/ 2-3 other leg exercises for higher reps
Friday – bench w/ 2-3 other exercises
Saturday – overhead press / shoulders /tri
Sunday – deadlift/back
Then rest on ur mon – tues – Wednesday
